Sheersh is an India-qualified lawyer currently pursuing the second leg of his NUS-MIDS Dual LL.M., having completed his LL.M. in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution at the National University of Singapore earlier this year. At NUS, he received the Sandosham Prize for International Dispute Settlement. He completed his LL.B. at Symbiosis Law School, Pune, India, where he received an academic scholarship and topped several courses.
His professional and research experience spans international commercial arbitration, investor-state dispute settlement, and public international law. He has worked as a Research Assistant to Professor Stavros Brekoulakis at NUS, contributing to empirical research on ISDS. His earlier experience includes research on the enforcement of arbitral awards, anti-suit injunctions, subject-matter arbitrability, and the interpretation of Indian arbitration law. He has also participated in several leading international arbitration moots, receiving Honourable Mentions for both claimant and respondent written memoranda at the Vis East.
Outside his legal work, Sheersh spends his time playing guitar and watching films. When time permits, he can watch as many as 45 films in a month. He is also someone people can rely on for a joke in even the most serious situations, whether to lighten the mood or simply to test whether there is, in fact, a time and place for everything.
