Maximin de Fontmichel is Professor of Private Law and Director of the Master in Arbitration and International Trade Law (MACI) at University of Paris Saclay. He also created and leads the Certificat d'Université Pratique de l'Arbitrage (CUPA), which he specially designed to support professionals in the world of arbitration.
Maximin teaches Contract Law, Private Judicial Law and Abitration Law.
Maximin de Fontmichel is the founder and partner of F.A.R. Fontmichel Arbitration Resolution, a Paris based arbitration boutique. He acts as arbitrator as chairman, co-arbitrator or sole arbitrator in domestic and international arbitration proceedings governed by the arbitration rules of the ICC, CMAP, NAI, UNCITRAL, CEFAREA, AFA, CAIP, OHADA and in ad hoc arbitration. He is also called upon as a legal expert in arbitration and court proceedings.
Having lived for several years in North America, Scotland and Spain, Maximin is fluent in French, English and Spanish, and conducts arbitration proceedings in all three languages.
Maximin de Fontmichel holds the CAPA (Paris Bar) and was a member of the Madrid Bar.
Maximin de Fontmichel graduated from the University of Versailles (Phd in private law, summa cum laude). He also graduated from McGill University (LL.M 2008) and the Universities of Panthéon-Sorbonne and Complutense de Madrid (Master). He was Visiting Scholar at Columbia University in New York in 2011.
Author of numerous national and international publications and conferences, Maximin de Fontmichel is the author of "Le faible et l'arbitrage" (ed. Economica 2013) and co-author of "Code de l'arbitrage commenté" with Th. Clay (LexisNexis 2nd ed. 2021).
