Marcelo Kohen is a Professor of international law at the Geneva Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies (IHEID), as well as the Secretary General of the Institut de Droit International. He has acted as counsel and advocate for a number of States in contentious and advisory proceedings before the ICJ, the ITLOS and arbitral tribunals in cases related to territorial and maritime disputes, shared resources and self-determination, among others. Prof. Kohen has also acted as arbitrator in numerous ICSID and PCA cases. Prof Kohen is the author of many publications in the field of international law; his research relate to international law theory, territorial, maritime and border disputes as well as international dispute settlement.
