Nhokchin Ly

Nhokchin Ly is the first Cambodian student to attend the LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS). Before joining the MIDS, she worked as an Associate at Rajah & Tann Sok & Heng Law Office, a leading law firm in Cambodia and a member of Rajah & Tann Asia.

With over seven years of legal practice, she has extensive experience across various areas, including commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution, construction, foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, general corporate and commercial law, employment law and telecommunications.

Her academic journey reflects a strong commitment to learning and international engagement. She was selected as a Harpswell Foundation U.S. Fellow for 2018–2019, interned at a U.S. law firm in 2019, and broadened her academic horizons through an exchange semester in Indonesia in 2018. She was also the first student from her village to receive a scholarship from the Cambodian government and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights to pursue her law degree in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Beyond legal practice, Nhokchin has contributed articles on arbitration to her law firm’s website, served as a teaching assistant in contract law, and lectured on intellectual property. In 2024, she coached university students participating in the LAWASIA international moot competition, mentoring them in international arbitration, legal memorandum drafting, oral advocacy and teamwork. Under her guidance, the team secured sixth place and received the Team Spirit Award, an outstanding achievement in the school’s first participation in the competition.

Through the MIDS, Nhokchin aims to expand her global professional network and deepen her expertise in international commercial arbitration, international commercial litigation and investment arbitration.
