Mineh Hovian recently graduated from KU Leuven, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws, specialising in Economic Law with a minor in International and European Law. Her interest in arbitration was sparked during a course on Judicial Law, where it was introduced only briefly, yet sufficiently to capture her attention. It was further nurtured through an elective course on International Arbitration, where the professor’s enthusiasm for the field left a lasting impression. Feeling inspired, she wrote her master’s thesis on contradictory reasoning in an arbitral award.
Alongside her studies, Mineh was actively involved in Jura Falconis, a student law review founded in 1964. She first served as an Editor, and later as one of the Editors-in-Chief. Having greatly enjoyed the experience, she remains involved with the journal as an Editor for one final year.
Mineh gained practical experience through internships with the Dispute Resolution team at Fieldfisher, the Investigation Office of the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA), and the Court of Appeal in Ghent. Together, these experiences provided her with a comprehensive understanding of how disputes arise, are investigated, and are resolved.
Mineh is fluent in Dutch, English, and Armenian. She has a good working knowledge of French, which she continues to improve. Outside the legal sphere, she enjoys practising taekwondo, playing classical piano, and volunteering at sporting events, such as the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
