Meghana is an India-qualified disputes lawyer with experience in international arbitration, commercial litigation and white-collar investigations. Prior to joining the MIDS, she practised with Trilegal, a leading GAR 100 law firm, where her work focused on complex domestic and international commercial arbitrations in sectors ranging from financial services to construction. This included the challenge and enforcement of international arbitral awards before both national and foreign courts. Alongside her arbitration practice, she also worked on civil, commercial and insolvency disputes before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts and company law tribunals. Earlier in her career, Meghana gained valuable institutional exposure as an intern at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
Having grown up in the Middle East, Meghana moved to India to study law. As a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) student at the National Law School of India University (NLS), she found her way to dispute resolution through mooting. She was a quarter-finalist at the Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot and represented her university at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court World Rounds. At the Skadden FDI International Arbitration Moot, she was the highest-ranked individual oralist at the South Asia Regional Rounds before going on to argue at the World Rounds.
Alongside practice, Meghana has a strong interest in academia. She served as Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed NLS Business Law Review and as a Teaching Assistant for the Public International Law course. As a research assistant to multiple academics and practitioners, she has also worked on subjects as varied as the political economy of preferential trade agreements, data protection law and international law capacity building. It was the MIDS' ability to ground rigorous academic study in practice that drew her to the programme, and she hopes to use it as a springboard to an international practice in commercial and investment arbitration, while remaining engaged in academia.
Outside work, Meghana can't resist a good puzzle. She is a former national KenKen champion, a top 40 GeoGuessr player worldwide, and a cryptic crossword and sudoku enthusiast. She also loves reading historical fiction and is always a few books behind an overly ambitious Goodreads reading goal that she refuses to lower.
