Gilliam Collinsworth-Hamilton

Gilliam is transitioning into international dispute resolution following a ten-year career in financial services as a research editor and China government policy & trade analyst. Based in Beijing and Hong Kong, his work entailed drafting reports on the long-term global market impact of Chinese policy and managing a team of analysts to produce daily and long-form reports on sectors such as commodities, infrastructure & construction, retail consumption, energy, tech, property, and finance. Gilliam also made regular media appearances on news outlets such as the BBC World News and wrote for newspapers such as the Financial Times.

In 2022, Gilliam moved to London to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales. He completed the English Solicitor Qualifying Exams and developed his understanding of international law by interning at the International Bar Association, Arbitration Chambers, and with the international arbitration team at WilmerHale. Gilliam has assisted on a wide range of matters from multijurisdictional franchise agreement arbitrations to unlawful killings before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. He also produced reports on issues such as investment treaty pre-establishment obligations, ESG & carbon credit disputes, state immunity, deep-sea mining disputes, and the impact of sanctions on arbitration. He has worked in arbitrations under ICC, LCIA, HKIAC, SIAC, and DIAC rules as well as ad-hoc arbitrations under UNCITRAL rules.

Gilliam holds a BA(Hons) Chinese and Management from SOAS, University of London; a Masters with distinction in International and Public Affairs from the University of Hong Kong; and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law with distinction from the University of Law, London.
