Effie Odhiambo

Effie is a Kenyan-qualified lawyer with a background in Government Litigation, Corporate Commercial Law, Administrative Law, Financial Services Law, and Strategic Policy Research.

Her experience at the Office of the Attorney General involved managing a varied civil litigation caseload as well as reviewing several high-stakes government contracts and MOUs. Conversely, her in-house experience at United States International University-Africa included overseeing various corporate and commercial legal matters and authoring two editions of the institution’s tri-annual legal digest.

Her practical expertise is enhanced by advanced research skills, which she developed through conducting policy research on complex institutional, demographic, and financial landscapes and mapping funding flows. She further supports this knowledge with self-taught economics and decision theory.

During law school and her postgraduate diploma, she participated in the FDI Moot, winning the Africa Regional Rounds in 2021 and 2024 and receiving honourable mentions as best advocate of the Africa Regional Finals in 2021 and as the 4th best speaker at the Africa Regional Round and 6th best speaker globally in 2024. She currently serves on the FDI Moot 2026 Case Committee and promotes the vision of Africa in the Moot through her role on the Media and Communications Committee.

Outside her legal career, she occasionally performs as a vocalist in classical, R&B and jazz genres.
