Balram is an India-qualified lawyer with over two and a half years of professional experience. Before joining the MIDS, he was an Associate-cum-Law Clerk to Hon’ble Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri, who is currently an International Judge at the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) and is a former Judge of the Supreme Court of India. At the SICC and Court of Appeal of Singapore, Balram has assisted Justice Sikri in proceedings involving translational commercial litigation and annulment of arbitral awards.
He has also assisted Justice Sikri in his arbitration practice, where he acted as a Tribunal Secretary in a variety of international commercial and domestic arbitrations across institutional (ICC, SIAC and DIAC) and ad hoc cases. He was also involved in an investment treaty arbitration administered by the PCA under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules 1976.
Balram completed his B.B.A. LL.B. in 2022 from Symbiosis Law School, NOIDA, where he was a recipient of the ‘University Merit Scholarship’. Since his law school days, Balram regularly contributed to legal writing and has published for journals, legal platforms and national dailies in India. Apart from law, he is interested in poetry, theatre, cricket, and different cultures.
