Arkaneil Bhaumik

Arkaneil Bhaumik is an Advocate practising before the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi, specializing in commercial litigation and arbitration. He represents clients, including multinational corporations, in complex civil and commercial disputes encompassing construction arbitrations, insolvency laws, and partnership laws. He has appeared in high- stakes matters involving challenges to arbitral awards, enforcement proceedings, and international commercial arbitrations. Arkaneil has also presented oral arguments in landmark cases before the High Court of Delhi, including those concerning the fundamental right to free education and the recognition of the transgender community’s right to free public transport.

At the age of twenty-five, Arkaneil became one of India’s youngest sole- arbitrators to be appointed by a Court in an institutional arbitration, when the High Court of Delhi appointed him as a Sole Arbitrator under the aegis of the Delhi International Arbitration Centre (DIAC). He has also been appointed multiple times as a Local Commissioner by the High Court of Delhi to assist in civil litigation proceedings. His work reflects a balance of courtroom advocacy, arbitral expertise, and pro bono engagement through initiatives aimed at expanding access to justice.

Arkaneil graduated with a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree from the National Law University Odisha. Arkaneil represented his University at the Global Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, emerging as a Semi-Finalist, and ranking among the top oralists. His academic work spans publications in prestigious law journals including the Cambridge International Law Journal and Indian Journal of Air and Space Law, reflecting his continuing engagement with issues of arbitration, international law, and global governance.
