Celebrating the MIDS Class of 2025-2026

The MIDS LL.M. programme in International Dispute Settlement proudly celebrated the graduation of its 2025-2026 cohort on 24 September 2026 at the Maison de la Paix in Geneva. Bringing together students from around the world, the ceremony marked the culmination of an intensive academic year dedicated to excellence in international dispute resolution. The event featured addresses from distinguished members of the MIDS community, a keynote speech by Gourab Banerji SA, and the presentation of the prestigious Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler Award.

On Thursday, 24 September 2026, the MIDS community gathered at the Maison de la Paix to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2025-2026. After a year of rigorous study, intellectual challenge, and professional growth, our graduates joined the distinguished global network of MIDS alumni who continue to shape the practice and scholarship of international dispute settlement around the world.

The ceremony opened with welcome remarks by Emilie Poisson (external link), MIDS Executive Director, followed by congratulatory messages from:

Spotlight: Gourab Banerji's Keynote address

A highlight of the ceremony was the keynote speech delivered by Gourab Banerji SA, President of the Arbitration Bar of India and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. In his address, "Arbitrating in the Age of Disruption," Mr Banerji examined how technological advances, shifting economic realities, geopolitical developments, and changing expectations of users are transforming the practice of international arbitration. Drawing on his extensive experience as counsel and arbitrator, he offered graduates valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the next generation of dispute resolution practitioners. His thought-provoking reflections reminded graduates that adaptability, intellectual curiosity, and professional integrity will remain essential qualities for success in an increasingly dynamic global landscape.

Honouring academic excellence

The ceremony also featured the presentation of the Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler Award, recognizing outstanding academic achievement within the graduating class. The award was presented by Professor Pierre Tercier, who shared remarks celebrating the exceptional quality of the students' work and the continued commitment of the MIDS community to academic excellence.

Graduates, faculty, alumni, family members, and friends then gathered for an aperitif at the Pavillon Barton, continuing the celebrations and marking the beginning of the graduates' next chapter.
