The MIDS-NUS Double Degree Program is an exceptional opportunity for students to receive training from two leading institutions and expand their networks in both Geneva and Singapore.
The MIDS program offers a unique opportunity for students to pursue a double degree with the National University of Singapore (NUS). Established in 2017, the Double Degree Program (DDP) enables students to earn both the LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) and the NUS LL.M. in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution (IADR). Students who complete the curriculum at either MIDS or NUS with an IADR specialization can enroll in the other institution for an additional (third) consecutive semester. Upon successfully finishing their studies in both locations, students graduate with both the MIDS and NUS LL.M. degrees.
NUS Law is widely regarded as Asia’s leading law school, known for its diverse and distinguished faculty. Committed to fostering a vibrant community, it promotes critical thinking on the fundamental issues of our interconnected world. Located in Singapore—a long-established commercial hub—NUS Law embraces a global perspective in legal education. Its curriculum has incorporated comparative, international, and multi-disciplinary approaches, enriched by visiting faculty and students from around the globe, creating a dynamic and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The Double Degree Program permits MIDS students who have completed the curriculum for the MIDS to spend a semester at NUS Law, enrolled in the LL.M. IADR program. Upon successful completion of their NUS studies, MIDS students will receive an LL.M. IADR degree from NUS, in addition to their MIDS LL.M. degree.
To attain the NUS LL.M., MIDS students must complete a minimum of 40 NUS Module Credits (MCs). Of these 40 MCs, 17 are credited from courses taken as part of the MIDS program in Geneva. At NUS Law, students must complete at least 23 NUS MCs worth of modules, with 15 of those from modules within the International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution (IADR) specialization. Additionally, MIDS students are limited to a maximum of 27 NUS MCs during their candidature. Students are required to remain in Singapore throughout their studies.
To be eligible to apply for the double degree program, MIDS students must attain an average grade point average of 5.00 or higher (out of 6.00) in the first semester of the MIDS program.
MIDS students interested in pursuing the double degree will receive detailed information about the application process near the end of their first semester at the MIDS. Applications typically open in December and close in early March.
The tuition fee payable for the second LLM of the double degree program (be it at NUS or MIDS) is 70% of the corresponding full LLM fees.
The Double Degree Program (DDP) leverages the strengths of two leading academic institutions in international dispute settlement. This program provides MIDS students with a valuable opportunity to enhance their qualifications and expand their professional networks in two major cities for international arbitration and dispute resolution. By studying at both institutions, students benefit from the rich educational resources and diverse cultural perspectives each university offers.
NUS students selected for the double degree program will study at the MIDS for one semester (September to February) and submit their thesis by the end of March. NUS students will be required to complete 90 ECTS at the MIDS for a successful completion of the program. Students will be credited 38 ECTS credits from courses taken as part of their NUS LLM. At the MIDS, students will be required to complete 5 intensive courses, 3 optional courses and a thesis. In addition, they will attend at least 3 workshops, the MIDS seminars and one national or international conference.
