Career services & prospects

Preparing you for your next career move is our mission and an integral part of your time at the MIDS.

"I not only gained invaluable knowledge and laid the basis for a professional network at the MIDS: it also opened doors to a truly international career and changed my life."

Anna Kozmenko, MIDS'09Partner, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle

The MIDS: an unparalleled stepping stone

At the MIDS, we not only train students to become well-rounded international dispute settlement practitioners, we also help them build a professional network and search for a job after the program. The MIDS equips our students with the tools they need to succeed in the international disputes market. Our proven methods yield results: approximately 80% of students find a position before they graduate.

Whether our students are searching for positions with an international law firm, arbitral institution, international organization, government, international court, or in-house legal at a company, MIDS career services are there to help students develop the skills and confidence to succeed.

We understand that pursuing an LL.M. for a year entails sacrifices, and many students are eager to begin their careers upon completing the program. However, planning the next professional step requires thoughtful consideration and careful strategy. That’s why students have access to career services and support from day one and throughout their time at MIDS.

What do we offer?

The MIDS career services provide current students and alumni with workshops and individual support for:

  • Career planning
  • CV and cover letter drafting assistance and review
  • Professional development of social media presence
  • Networking skills coaching
  • Mock interviews and after-interview debriefing sessions

The MIDS also provides students with access to a vast professional network, consisting of more than 500 MIDS alumni as well as contacts within leading law firms, arbitral institutions, and professional organizations. During the MIDS academic year, students are exposed to numerous opportunities to connect and build their own network through networking events, professional workshops and industry panels. On these occasions, MIDS students can practice and make the most of the skills acquired through our careers workshops, training sessions, and individual career counseling.

Students are also invited to take advantage of the MIDS Alumni Association mentorship program, where participants are matched with an experienced alumnus to receive tailored career advice and insider insight into the international dispute settlement job market.
